And today I feel for everyone suffering from illness of the mind...

If everyone's minds were wired right there would be no misunderstandings, no one would make mistakes, no one would be toxic to themselves and that would make a very boring reality show for God to watch.

  1. Hi Deepa,

I just read the post about your scooty trip to Nandi Hills.
I am planning to visit Nandi Hills on my Kinetic with my sister, never done that before. Was the drive safe and how about the downhill trip (most difficult one? Did you switch off your ignition and freewheeled? Need some tips.
    Regards,
    Kusum

  3. Yes the drive was pretty safe and downhill you can switch the ignition off in parts.. If you are a new driver then I would not suggest it for you. We had driven on hills quite a few times before then too so we did not think much of it before making the trip. We went on a rainy day and the view was worth the drive. Have fun!

  5. Thanks a lot for your reply Deepa. I came across a blog from Bangalore-Nandi Scooty ride and read your comments there. So I thought i’d ask for a second thought to you.I am a regular scooter rider but never driven on hills. Did you guys switch off the engine all the way down? Let me know if it was fun riding that way so I can keep that in mind. Kusum

  6. Yes you can switch it off on your way down. Use the break where appropriate. Use your instincts, you should be fine.

Yes it was a lot of fun and the trip was breath taking.. We were literally driving in and out of clouds and since it was a rainy day there weren't many people on the road or at the top.

  7. Thanks Deepa. Are there many woman riders out there on that road, just out of curiosity. Just to be safe.
So the downhill drive should be 45mins-one hr, if I ride it switching off the engine all the way down? Is that what you did as well.
Thanks for that link, I am sure I will post one after the trip. It sounds so exciting.

  8. Kusum, we went in 2002. We weren't really the types who worried abt how many other women riders and such.. We didnt even plan much. Decided at 10:25am and set out by 10:30am.. As I mentioned it was a rainy day and there were very few people.

However I know times have changed and if that is a concern to you then try to find more women / men to go with you.

Sincerely I do not remember how long I had the engine switched off downhill. Just went by my instincts.

Please think over properly and use other channels of research before you make the trip since you seem really concerned about such details. There are surely some blind U turns so if you do not feel confident then I would suggest hold off or go in a bigger group.
